Université Laval has made sustainable development one of its top priorities. By doing so, it aims to maintain and improve the quality of life of its members, the general public, and future generations.
This vision has been underpinned by
- Integrating the concept of sustainable development into undergraduate programs
- 43 programs, 59 research groups, centers, and chairs, and some 100 research projects on sustainability
- Numerous student projects and international internships
- The Hydro-Québec Institute of Environment, Development and Society summer school
- Greenspaces and woodlands covering over 75% of the campus
- Facilities to encourage healthy lifestyles
- An ongoing effort to reduce the university’s environmental footprint
Université Laval is the first university in Quebec to have a sustainable development policy backed by a $2 million institutional fund.
